EduCampus welcomes CUA announcement
EduCampus would like to congratulate IT Sligo, GMIT and LYIT on officially being designated the status of Technological University for the North-West by Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris. This is the fourth technological university (TU) to be created since 2019 and represents a milestone in higher education provision for the West and North-West.
In his announcement Mr Harris said:
“This is a fantastic day for higher education in the West and North-West region, providing for the establishment early next year of a multi-campus university presence across the region, encompassing eight locations in Castlebar, Galway City, Killybegs, Letterfrack, Letterkenny, Mountbellew and Sligo”.
The TU will be a leader in the provision of access to Higher Education by offering programmes from pre-degree to doctoral level on campus, online or as remote learning. As a TU, they will deepen collaborative partnerships with Further and Higher Education institutions and organisations in the public and private sectors. They will also support the needs of enterprises, especially SMEs, across the region through collaborative research and enabling technology transfer to support economic and social prosperity. It will provide research-informed teaching and access to emerging technologies for all learners.
Patrick Naughton, Chief Executive of EduCampus Services said:
“On behalf of EduCampus we are delighted to welcome this news and we look forward to supporting the establishment of the new University”.
